Madhav Bhatta| Post-Doctoral Researcher

Madhav’s research projects were on: (i) development, optimization, and utilization of genomic prediction models for the cereal breeding program, (ii) development and deployment of small grains variety selector tool for the Midwestern region by utilizing a large scale historical dataset into a genomic prediction model, and (iii) breeding for beneficial microbiomes for enhancing crop yield and quality. Madhav is now a Trait Interactions Assessment Breeder with the Crop Breeding, Genetics and Genomics Group at Bayer.

Ines worked on the INNOVAGRO project on genomic selection in wheat. She received the CSIC Fellowship. Ines is currently working on a Ph.D. program in the Plant Breeding and Plant Genetics Graduate Program at UW-Madison under my supervision.
Rafael Nalin | Ph.D Graduate

Thesis: Selecting crosses throughout cycles of breeding: a study using real data and in-silico simulation.
Rafael completed a Ph.D. in . He spent a year at the CB & QG lab (2018-2019) working on a specific aspect of his dissertation. Additionally, he collaborated in other projects from our group. Rafael is currently working as a research scientist at Bayer,Brazil.

Bettina worked on the INNOVAGRO grant in genomic selection in wheat. She received the ANII Fellowship. Bettina has already secured a Faculty position at the UDELAR in Uruguay.

Juan worked on the INIA grant on GWAS in rice. He also received the ANII Fellowship and the Monsanto Beachell- Borlaug International Scholarship. Currently working as a scientist at the National Agricultural Research Institute, Uruguay.

Paula worked on the INNOVAGRO project on disease resistance in wheat where Dr. Gutierrez was her academic advisor. Paula is currently working on her Ph.D. at Kansas State University with Dr. Jesse Poland in wheat breeding.
